Dancing Fever

The moon had risen and the night enveloped the city into shadows, lights only glared from the frequented districts or the areas that were stealing electricity. However the club was fully ablaze in the downtown core where the survivors the reawakening gathered in downtown Seattle to remember. Sometimes to forget. Either way to lose themselves in the music and the booze and if they were lucky in the arms of someone for the night.

Silver flashed the bouncer a grin as he let her into the club without having to wait in line, careful to keep her teeth restrained. Her long black hair flowed over her pale skin to reach her tailbone. The abundance of hair was the only thing keeping her outfit decent, which was why the bouncer let her in and the indecency was why she didn't have to wait in line. The crimson velvet clung to all the right places with no back and on the short side. The fabric made her pale skin almost glow and brought out the gold in her eyes, where as the fabric matched her lips perfectly.

Silver could feel the eyes moving over her but ignored them, she was here on a mission and she didn't care about the majority of the mortals moving around her. She was almost deafened between the heart beats that surrounded her and the music that seemed to pulse in time with it. Shaking her head to clear her mind she moved into the crowd and towards the dance floor.

It had been a while since the vampire had fed but she rarely felt the need for blood anymore. No she was out hunting infinitely more difficult prey. She was told though that the bodyguard had a weakness for women and as long as she could capture his attention then hopefully he would be interested at least long enough to hear about the job and to see the girl.

On the dance floor she began to move, she had loved to dance since she had been a child, of course those dances were for nature and were with tired old men and ... She shut her mind down on that thought she couldn't waste time now on reminsces for those considered long gone and her heart couldn't handle it right now, the only thing that kept the vampire human was the young woman waiting for her and hopefully the body guard.

And then she saw him, leaning back in a booth with several other men and as she saw him his eyes were already on her. She flashed him a grin even as someone began dancing with her from behind, she turned to dance with the new comer. She danced with several men and women, slowly winding her way closer to where he sat.

He was good looking with long hair brown hair that fell in his eyes and chiseled features. "Mental note" she thought to herself "watch the girl with him, he is much to pretty and she is much too innocent for this one." With large shoulders she could see why he was good at his job and she only hoped that eventually she would see him moving towards her. The bodyguard had a reputation for playing fast and loose with women but at least being honest with them, he was there for a good time not a long time, he was also known for being reckless and doing whatever it took to get the job done and that's what she needed.

  1. Never linger long on anyone. Such a stupid rule. How else was you to study a possible enemy? Rules. Also another thing Ryan thought pointless. Nobody followed them. Just like when there were laws. Nobody followed them and the world became the hell hole it is. Ryan looking over the crowd more scanning for threats or even a good fight. Doe like eyes meeting the eyes of a pale woman. Taking a moment to study her before drifting to the next. Hearing the talk of the ones he thought of as Family. The dreamer. Also his best friend Scott Youngblood. The world as dark as it was. He still had hope. Still could dream of a peaceful world. It gave him comfort. Unlike Ryan who took comfort having a hand on the cold handle of his gun. Getting more annoyed tonight with endless thumping and grinding they called music. Even the women seem to be the same thing. To eager to have a good time. Dressed all the same leaving nothing to imagine. Normally he would already have a line up. Not tonight. Something was diffrent. Giving a nod to one of his members before leaving making his way into the parking lot. Slipping on a jacket a way to block the cold air and stepping outside. A deep breath taken and slow release watching the fog from warm breath. Finding his car and lays down on the hood relaxing. Odd way to relax but it worked for Ryan.

  2. She had lost track of him in the crowd on the dance floor and it was simple luck that as she was twisting that she happened to catch him as he swung into his jacket and headed out the door. "Fuck" she muttered to herself and began to move towards the door.

Unfortunately that gave the person she was dancing with ideas and he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back. "I would love to oblige you lady" the man said in a way he obviously thought was charming. She stopped and stared at him as her temper soared biting down hard on her lower lip to restrain the impulse to rip out his throat she brought up her knee in a vicious stroke to his groin.

"Haven't you learned it's not polite to grab a girl? Well hopefully you learn well" she said coldly before turning on her heel and heading out of the club.

She nodded to the bouncer as she headed across the parking lot to the cars. "No wonder Opal likes the cloak so much, it's strange to be stared at by these people" Silver thought to herself even as she muttered profanities. She moved between the cars as she headed towards her viper, it was fast and light and could move like the wind when she needed it too. She got to the car door and muttered a louder fuck as she kicked the tire. She had lost the damn bodyguard and what if she got a call tomorrow. She was so mad at herself for losing the trial and for losing her temper with the idiot who could reappear out of the club at any moment that she hadn't even noticed the person laying on the hood of their car only a few car lengths away.

She opened the car door and took a deep breath and stopped. That smell .... she turned and could have slapped herself on the forehead to see the person she was looking for laying on the hood of the car.

"The subtle approach obviously didn't work and the goddess must still give at least somewhat of a shit so lets try the direct approach, otherwise I will be hunting out the second best" she thought to herself before slamming the car door and walking up to the figure lounging on the hood of the car.

"Ryan, right? Are you looking for a job?"

    1. Feeling the some what fresh air seem to help clear the thumping in the ears. Much more quiet. But with quiet came chances of memories to surface. Some ment to keep laying deep. Closing eyes trying to push them back nto the depths in which they came. Another night maybe they could surface and be handled. Not tonight. Reaching into his coat pocket getting a smoke lighting it up taking a deep drag letting it out slowly causing more of a thick small fog. A voice sounding tender caught his attention. Looking towards her taking a quick scan. Before thoughts could enter his mind a question was asked. Arching a brow looking to the woman. " Do I look that in need? Seriously Lady Idont know who you are. Really don't care to but no I don't need a job"

    2. She let out a snort of laughter, "Sorry, I didn't mean that you were hoboized or something. And maybe you aren't the guy I came here tonight to find but you sure look a hell of lot like him. I was told that a guy named Ryan Jackson frequented here and he was probably one of the best in the bodyguard game. I thought you were him so I figured I would offer you the job. If you aren't him then no harm done and have a great night. If you are him then it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance and if we could rap up some of the details quickly that would be great. I think I left a friend behind who might not be feeling the most .... friendly towards me at the moment." She offered him a smile a shrug and waited for the answer

    3. Known for being a bodyguard. That was rarely heard. Known for being crazy and going into the front of danger. More like it. Flicking the butt of the smoke into the parking lot watching the few sparks of red before looking. At the woman again " I am Ryan Jackson. Not sure about the pleasure of acqaintance time will tell that. So why me? Who sent you?" Always had to ask. Mitch. The leader of Corp C would have a fit if he found out any of the members worked for an enemy or something that was against what they stood for.

  3. She heard the music float across the parking lot again and loojed back. Barely surpressing a groan of annoyance as Fool walked out with two buddies. She smiled faintly to see him still walking funny hopefully that would keep him from doing something stupid.

She turned back to Ryan and studied him for a moment because here was where the explaining got a bit harder. " you have a friend or co worker something like that who is .... he's special right? Not special ed or anything just you know different. He told the person that you will be protecting that you were the one for the job."

  4. Keeping eyes on the ones walking out for a moment. Trust was an issue with anyone. Softly resting a hand on the gun at his side. Listening to what the woman was talking about. Sounded like she was on some kind of drug. Great now even the strung out people know the whole bodyguard thing. Taking a moment to think if any of the Corp was special. Nope not a one. Looking to the woman once more " You got the wrong Corp. Nothing special about any of us. Sorry about that" sliding off the hood of his car opening the door " should really get off of what your on." Getting into the car closing the door and starting it up to go

  5. Silver laughed, she knew it was an absurd thought to begin with but for him to think she was high on something just made it even better. Her laughter echoed across the parking lot drawing the attention of the three Fools who started moving in their direction.

Still laughing softly she moved out of the way of his car and towards her own, "Look I have someone who needs protecting, I could get called out on a job of my own at any time and I need to make sure she's safe. If you have the time then I have the cash, if you want to meet her first and make sure clears .... whatever she needs to clear with you then fine. I just want the best and I have the cash to ensure it. On something .... that's great, sorry drugs are not my scene it's normally best for everyone that I stay in control of myself. If you don't want the job can you recommend someone else then?"

  6. It was like a sudden jolt of uneasy feeling. The woman may be on something or not. Either way she was innocent. Getting out of the car and placing himself next to her. Eyes now focused on the two who seem to have a goal of trying to harm the woman. Any good guard learns to read people. Looking to the woman his tone now changed even the way he acted. " stay close." It had only been a few days since he took care of a few just like them. Pulling the trigger. Watching life drain. All in a nights work

  7. She cocked her head slightly as he moved around the door and came to stand beside her. The words "Stay close" echoed to her for a moment and all she could do was stare in confusion before turning and looking over her shoulder. Fool and his two buddies were almost right behind her.

"Well that will teach me to get distracted." she thought to herself as she turned around. Wait ... he was trying to protect her. She reveled in that luxury for a second before grinning at him. The three men were right up to them, the one in the middle still walking funny.

"Yeah, that's the one that kneed me." Fool said to his cronies. He looked at Ryan and gave him a rueful smile, "Come on buddy, she was all hot and bothered on the dance floor I just want to say good night properly."

  8. Placing the woman behind him. Slipping in her hand a gun. Just incase. The other was already snugged in his other hand. Ryan came off to be some one lost in time. More like the tough guy you seen in the 60s. The unruly bangs and the muscle shirt under the jacket. It helped keep him looking out of place and clueless. Clicking back the gun he had a way with people. Giving a smirk which only added to tough guy look. The sound of loud pops were heard followed by the thud of bodies hitting the cold pavement. The light fog from the barrel of the gun seen then fading away. Ryan keeping the smirk looking at the bodies a moment " I'm sorry your not saying goodnight to anyone but yourself" looking to the woman still having that concern look " you alright?"

  9. "He pushed me behind him, behind him!" she thought to herself. She had been alone for so long and then there had been Opal but she had always protected the other young woman. The last time someone tried to protect her ..... too long ago to really contemplate. As she went to move beside him she heard the pop pop and then the smell of blood wafted over her. She clenched her teeth together to keep her canines in check.

When she had control of herself again she smiled up at him. "I like a man who goes for the kill rather then just a knock out. Knocking people out sadly leads to them getting back up again."

She looked at the guys laying on the ground, "To think that if he would have just minded his own business. Thank you though. You didn't know me, you didn't know the situation but you still moved to protect me. That's the kind of man I want guarding Opal. Please just meet her, if you don't want the job after that then we all walk away with no one hurt. But she's different and I think she needs someone like you to protect her back."

  10. For the first time offers an actual smile. Hearing the need for help in the womans voice. She was beautiful. Not the fake kind but natural beauty. Keeping by her side still incase there were others. Another thing to learn bastards had brothers. Family to seek revenge. Though it ment nothing to Ryan. Just another piece of scum to rid of. " Alright, I will meet her and see how it goes" taking back the gun he slipped in her hand placing both guns back in their place. Looking at the bodies on the ground. Knowing soon there would be nothing left. Perhaps even the bodies would be gone. " Lead me to the lady that needs a guard"

  11. Silver offered him a brilliant smile as he smiled at her for the first time. "Thank you. Follow me it's not far." She went to her car and slipped in, pulling out to wait until he got into his car and followed her.

It didn't take long until they pulled up to a dark house. It was small but the yard was taken care of and well landscaped. The house was clean and all the windows were still intact. Silver nodded at Ryan as he pulled in behind her and headed towards the front door. She knocked twice and then opened the door slowly.

    "Opal?" she called softly.

"Back here." came the reply, the voice was low and sweet.

As they head towards the back of the house a light shines from a back bedroom. A soft humming can be heard. Silver enters the room ahead of Ryan and sits beside Opal.

    "Ryan, this is Opal."

A single lamp burned in the corner and the young woman sat in a huge chair beside it with her legs curled up underneath her. She was comfortable in jeans and a long sleeved shirt in a lovely soft green. As she closed the book and looked up at Ryan and offered him a shy smile. Her hair was as white as a crones with streaks of red running through it. It framed her heart shaped face and made the darkness of her large eyes seem more vivid. Though as his eyes adjusted to the light he could see that her eyes were really just green. She was beautiful in a delicate natural way where as Silver was striking and voluptuous.

"Hi" she said shyly while closing the book.

  12. Following the woman to a palce that seemed not to belong. No boards on the house. The grass was green and not brown with bloodstains. Walking in there was the fresh smell of cider and some kind of incense perhaps. Still alert but taking in the at home like feeling going towards the bedroom. At first as always checking corners with his eyes. Dark places means trouble most the time. Looking towards the girl. She looked to fragile. Almost like a doll. Who would want to harm her? Why?. In this world could be just for sport. Offering a quick smile back at her " Hello" now the answer should come soon. Why did she need a guard? Looking at the woman he still was clueless on her name " Alright, why do you need me?"

  13. Silver Sat back and watched the two of them. Opal looked confused for a moment before looking at Silver. "Didn't Silver explain to you?" Silver snorted. "No. I believe a reference was made that I should lay off the drugs and then the killing started then he agreed to meet with you." Opal laughed, "I suppose it all does sound a little farfetched. Well to simplify matters I will try to tell facts and not their stories. The world has reassembled. Different creatures and people are appearing. I guess I am one of them. I can do certain things that others can't seem to. However I made the mistake of being too .... noticeable one night and drew some unwanted attentions. Silver sadly can't be with me and originally she brought me here to be safe and then I lost my temper and ruined that plan. Silver works for someone who may call her away at any time and this person also isn't aware of our .... friendship. Nor would he really approve of it. So Silver can't move me yet and she doesn't want leave me alone which leaves you. " she offered a smile again and leaned back in the chair

  14. Trying to keep up with what was going on. Sounded like both were influenced by some kind of drug. Yet their eyes were clear and no other sign but the talk of creatures and being called away. All of it made no sense. Yet they seem as if it was all clear. The awaken world? Is that what she spoke of? Everyone knew creatures from past return. Even races thought long gone. " What or who am I guarding you from? I need to know details not stories." Making sure Silver was aware he knew what she was. " Vampires? No problem got the weapons that can kill an ancient. " waiting for one of them to become more clear.

  15. Opal smiled as Silver started to laugh. "Oh that's so adorable!" Silver stretched still chuckling and walked closer to Ryan on her way out of the room, though careful to make sure not to touch him or pose threateningly. "You are adorable, if I thought you could actually hurt me I wouldn't have brought you here however you amuse me and I like the gumption that you would be willing to try. And the fact that if you knew what I was and you still protected me from those three at the club when you had to know I could easily of handled them. Adorable. I am gonna go change, I'll be right back" She walks out of the room still chuckling to herself.

Opal smiles at Ryan again, "Do you want a seat or something to eat or drink?"

"Here, you are guarding me against the yakuza, apparently they collect people, like sorcerers or those with magic. I was walking one night when Silver was occupied and came across someone hurting a child. Sometimes I have some anger issues and I defended the kid. I didn't see the guys in the car watching until it was too late. They tried to grab me but thankfully the kid showed me some of the back alleys and I got away. At the moment I don't think they know where I am but Silver is worried that they will show up if and when she has to leave."

Silver walked back into the room looking much more comfortable in leather pants and a plain tank top. It was quite warm in the room even though there was no sound of the furnace and there had been no tell tale smoke curling into the cold sky outside

    ReplyDelete
  16. Even the mention of the name Yakuza sent a small wave of anger. So many people died by their hand. Most were innocent. Main enemy of Corp C from the very start. Guarding people from them was common. Nothing new with this job. Same routine as always. The one called Silver was becoming annoying. Always annoyed with the ones who thought themselves almighty powerful. What lives.can always die. If she was all so powerful why couldn't she handle the Yakuza herself? Listening to Opal and gives a nod. " You'll.be safe in the Corp" glancing towards Silver as she walked back in. " You go around bragging how powerful you are. You'll meet one who proves you wrong" brief memory of meeting an Ancient vampire surfaced. Skin like marble eyes that were of violet gems. Lucky he ment no harm and kept Lyndon safe. That kid was vampire crazy and had no fear of them. First real vampire he met. Keaton just didn't count. Crazy member of the Corp that got turned. He was insane with a pair of fangs. " So when do you need me to start?"

    ReplyDelete
  17. Silver walked back in about to agree to the plan before Ryan made his comment. "I don't think that I am all ...." the words stopped as the image of the ancient vampire went through Ryan's mind and Silver barely controlled a snarl as her entire body went rigid.

Opal leapt up and moved between Silver and Ryan. "What's wrong with you?" Opal asked Silver quietly.

Silver held up a hand and turned away as she attempted to get herself under control. "I am well aware that I am not the most powerful person in the world. Nor do I think that I will live forever nor do I want too. I can easily be destroyed at the whim of the person I work for but I have lived a long time and why spare time on fear when I can live. But the question I most want to ask is where did you see that face? How did you see that face?"

    ReplyDelete
  18. Looking to Silver even more confused. She was more crazy then Keaton. Almost ready to just walk away from this insanity. She talked crazy and acted crazy. Maybe Opal needed to be protected from her. As she asked the question about the ancient his mind again remembering that moment. His face was hard to blur out. The way he acted. So calm and full of charisma. Gentle yet one could tell also a silent killer if pushed. Unsure of why the crazy woman would want to know. Simply replies " I met him not long ago. He came to a child that's with us warning him about Vampires. He still checks on him some nights. Why do you ask?"

    ReplyDelete
  19. Silver dug her nails into the wall of the house as she tried to convince herself to breath. As Ryan began to think of him again the face detailed in his mind and Silver felt the tear trickle down her face which she abruptly wiped away. She steadied herself, still facing the wall. Opal layed a hand on her back and rubbed softly which sent a calming sensation through the vampire who let out a shuddering breath as the warmth crept through her. Silver turn around and gently touched Opal's face. "I am fine, lovey, no worries. I just didn't expect ..... I just wasn't expecting to see that. I normally keep much better track of myself but that was ... shocking. I am sorry I think .... I thought I recognized that man but he couldn't have been since He's dead. It was just shocking to see someone resemble him maybe, or perhaps I was seeing what I wanted to see. And yes, at one point Opal did need to be protected from me however her soft little squishy face won me over." Opal squished up her nose and rolled her eyes at Silver. "However, I am sure you don't want to know how I and the trouble maker met. Are there any questions that you have?"
